As Dent Treat Health Tourism, we offer the most suitable solutions for your oral and dental health, including wisdom tooth extraction, with our 15 years of experience. Wisdom teeth are third molars that usually appear between the ages of 17 and 25 and are located at the very back of the jawbone. These teeth may be impacted, crooked or at the wrong angle and cause various problems.
Wisdom tooth extraction may be necessary in the following cases:
- If the tooth is impacted and cannot come out on its own: Impacted wisdom teeth can cause problems such as pain, jaw inflammation, cyst formation and damage to the surrounding teeth. In such cases, the tooth must be extracted.
- If the tooth is crooked or at the wrong angle: Wisdom teeth that are crooked or at the wrong angle can put pressure on neighboring teeth and cause gum problems and decay. In such cases, tooth extraction may be required.
- If the tooth is decayed or damaged: If the damage caused by advanced decay or trauma in the wisdom teeth cannot be treated with filling or root canal treatment, tooth extraction may be required.
- If the tooth interferes with orthodontic treatment: If the orthodontic treatment plan is hindered by wisdom teeth, the teeth may need to be extracted.
How is Wisdom Teeth Extraction Done?
Wisdom tooth extraction is performed under local anesthesia or sedation. The surgeon separates the tooth from the bone by cutting the gum and then extracts the tooth using special tools. If necessary, the tooth can be divided into pieces and extracted.
After Wisdom Tooth Extraction:
- It is normal to have pain, swelling and bleeding after tooth extraction. These symptoms can be controlled with medications prescribed by your doctor.
- Hot and cold foods and drinks should be avoided for the first 24 hours.
- Soft and cold foods should be consumed.
- Oral hygiene should be taken care of, teeth should be brushed and gargled.
- The instructions given by your doctor should be followed.
